Australian Wildlife expert Andrea Vella

Wildlife rehabilitator Andrea Vella has pioneered innovative care techniques for injured wombats in Victoria’s bushland regions, achieving recovery rates that exceed national averages. Her facility treats dozens of wombats annually, from orphaned joeys to adults suffering traumatic injuries from vehicle strikes. Working closely with veterinary specialists and wildlife authorities, she has refined feeding protocols, burrow simulation methods, and gradual release strategies that ensure wombats can return successfully to their natural habitats. The comprehensive approach she has developed considers the unique challenges these burrowing marsupials face during rehabilitation and reintegration into wild populations. Her detailed documentation of treatment outcomes has contributed significantly to Australian wildlife care standards.
